An indoor public swimming for year round injoyment, a large water park, or a CABELA’s. Think Big Stillwater!!!!!!

We need a new YMCA. With the way Stillwater is growing–toward the west…this land would be ideal for a new YMCA. Campus rec center is not convenient (parking, cost) for the year-round residents of Stillwater to enjoy as a community rec center. One of the nicest pools in Oklahoma is our current Stillwater Y pool, and it is in a terrible state of disrepair, which may be beyond repair given the failing filter system and deteriorating pool liner. Our community seems dedicated to sports excellence–OSU and Stillwater High School athletic success–and it is time for a new community rec center–a new YMCA. Dump the current facility. It sits on a prime piece of real estate in a college town within easy walking distance of campus. It measures nearly a half block in Stillwater and has to be worth an amount of money that could fund the grow-Stillwater tract of land and serve as a good-sized down payment toward financial investment and loan to build a new YMCA.

Skating is fun and I second the comments about a community center. However, it seems that Stillwater is really lacking in the cultural/nightlife side of things…beyond disgusting, sticky bars, that is (except Zannotti’s!).

i totally agree with what has been already said i mean really what is there to do for kids in this town. but it does need to be big enough so that it can convert into different things

We need a new YMCA!! In other places I’ve lived, the Y’s are so nice with multiple indoor pools and a splash park outdoor pool, nice wood floor gymnasiums, an awesome weight room and cardio room and a large aerobics room, and they have fun hang out rooms for teens with pool tables and tvs.

A roller rink would be great for the kids It sounds like the old one was not updated enough to be successful but I think if a new one was put in and done right with huge screens for music videos and maybe the capability to rent out the space for roller hockey lessons as well.

hockey cool but dont forget about the roller derby team angels of no mercy we are about to go into our 4th season it would be so nice if there was a permament place for us to skate, practice, and have our games and it would make it easier for us to grow and recruit girls besides it would give kids sometime to do. what is there to do in this town for little kids i mean really. not everybody likes to bowl all the time. i think a roller rink would do really good here now with stillwater getting so big and the surrounding town and it would bring in some jobs for people

Having children who have played competitive youth baseball, softball, football and soccer it is obvious after traveling to other OK communities that Stillwater is in desperate need of more of all these fields with the capacity to hold competitions in Stillwater. GameOn has been a wonderful facility for many kids in the area for certain sports but it’s days appear to be numbered. It will leave a huge void when it’s gone.

An indoor ice skating rink. It wouldn’t even have to be year round. I used to live in a city that used the arena for other events (equestrian, livestock shows, skate park, etc…) during the warmer months and then laid down ice for the hockey season.

We need a nice community center with fitness equipment and indoor aquatics. My mom lives in a town smaller than Stillwater (in another state) and they have a fabulous community center with a lap pool, kids’ pool (with a lazy river, etc), climbing wall, snack bar, fitness classes, and nice NEW workout rooms and equipment. Why doesn’t Stillwater have anything like that??? Her town is not a rich one by any means. The only option here for swimming with kids year-round seems to be the Y and honestly, it is a pretty gross facility. I would definitely pay more to go somewhere nicer if it was available.

Yukon has a wonderful community center with all that (except the pool). They also have numerous outdoor tennis courts, baseball fields, soccer fields, basketball courts…nature trails, art classes, game rooms for kids, meeting facilities…ponds, bike trails, running trails…(sigh! why can’t we have something like that?!) One BIG facility to replace the YMCA, and the Park & Rec bldgs.

A roller skating rink would be great. .

  11. Wilson says:

I would like a complex that all ages could enjoy such as a convention center.

  12. Shelia Kennison says:

I went to incredible pizza in war acres for a birthday party. They had indoor bumper cars, mini golf, and an indoor race track with two seater cars. It was pretty awesome. It would be great to do all year round when it is too cold and when it is too hot to be outdoors with kids.

  13. TEM says:

Aquatics, Ice Rink for Hockey, Indoor batting cages, something like Versus in Broken Arrow only expanded for other sports like indoor Tennis.

I thought we just bulit a sports complex? Isn’t that what Game On is?

  15. Derek says:

An indoor complex would be best. Stillwater needs an ice skating rink that could be converted into a skate park would do very well.

  16. MC says:

An indoor sports complex large enough for Monster Jam or motorcross events as well as other types of events would be good.

  17. Kristen says:

An indoor sports complex that offers skate boarding, roller skating, and laser tag.
