    Конечно, я с таким тоже сталкивался :)

  2. Now that WalMart has settled in to the WEST side of town, it is apparent we need another grocery store choice out here.

    How about ALDI’S – – – – –

The one in Ponca City (across from WalMart) has been very successful, even with the dwindling population up there.

I place my vote on ALDI’S for the WEST side of town.

  3. Kristy says:

-A splash park (Perkins has one that we frequent in the summer. Lots of other Stillwater families go there too!)
-An indoor play area. There isn’t any place for stay-at-home-moms to take their kids to play when the weather is bad. If we had a mall with a play area that would be great, but just a simple indoor play area would be wonderful.

  4. Amanda says:

The West side of town is lacking food vendors. The popularity of the overly abundant Sonic should show how much a vendor is needed. I have heard Olive Garden repeated many times, but personally I don’t care for it and its prices. Plus it doesn’t make for a very good lunch time stop for those that may come to the tech park.
    My suggestions:
    Freddy’s Frozen Custard and Steakburger
    Schlotzsky’s
    Culver’s
    Spaghetti Warehouse

  5. Amanda says:

There once was a sign for a digital movie theater West of the La Quinta. What happened to that. Bring that to the west side.

  6. Tiffani says:

If Muskogee can have a water park why can’t we. You can make it an out door movie place too like a drive in theater but at the water park. I think OKC does it at there water park.

  7. Anonymous says:

Why is there no brewpub in Stillwater? What kind of college town are we?

  8. Ленин says:

Давно искал, чтобы подробно было расписано.

  9. Интересный момент, двояко понимается как то.

  10. Тим says:

Для общего развития посмотреть мона, а так могли бы и лучьше,

  11. Toni says:

A medium sized music venue which could also double as a convention center. It could offer many different types of music. Bands that would interest college student. Christian concerts are becoming more popular also.

  12. Хех… :) Почаще пишите смайлики, а то всё так как будто все очень серъёзно :)

  13. Попробуем так, спасибо!

  14. Shonda Brisco says:

Perhaps a combination of indoor-outdoor activities surrounded by shopping and dining? A winding walking path with trees, plants, etc., with shopping and restaurants on the outside of the walking path / park would allow for activities with shopping. Include a skate board park, rock climbing, and some seating areas, along with swings, playground, etc., for younger children would allow parents to take children outside for activities if mom or dad need to shop in a nearby store. Keeping the “park-like” atmosphere surrounded by the business store-fronts, allow for a safer place (without cars) for children and teens, while providing a family atmosphere for shopping. Many cities use this concept (Grand Prairie(TX), Charlotte (NC), etc.) Surrounding shops could include movie theater, computer stores, clothing stores, book stores, etc. Meet the needs of every age group and the customers will flock to visit, stay, visit, and shop.

  15. Очень приятно, что остались ещё такие как вы!

  16. Ast says:

Сейчас попробуем. Это здесь, если я не ошибаюсь.

  17. Mike says:

One of the things that absolutely flabbergasts me is that this is a university town, but there are no decent book stores – no offense to Hastings, but a Barnes and Noble, a Borders Books, or even a decent used book store would be a welcome addition to the community. We do have an excellent library, and I am impressed at the variety of literature it provides, but why go all the way into OKC or to Tulsa to purchase books?

  18. Matt says:

How about a dog park. I was stunned when I moved to Stillwater and discovered there are no dog parks anywhere. A Guitar Center or Sam Ash Music would also be a great addition. There is currently only one music store (a really poor example) in all of Stillwater and Perkins.

    • Amanda says:

The tech park walking trail is more or less a dog park. Or at the very least it is treated that way.

    • Christine says:

I vote yes on a dog park! I vote YES to a bookstore!

The vo-tech walking trail is great, but there is no fenced enclosure. Dogs really like to run free and play with each other. Dogs get a lot more out of a play time that is not restricted by a leash, and social interactions with other dogs. A NICE dog park is something that we could really showcase, and would help define our community.

    • KR says:

A dog park is a great idea!

  19. K-man says:

With so many students and young professionals I don’t see why a nice lounge or cocktail bar with relaxing music and atmosphere wouldn’t do well. Stillwater needs more class in the nigh life!

  20. K-man says:

Nice pool hall like Magoo’s in Tulsa.
Place with games like darts ,table tennis

  21. Anonymous says:

I’d like a better option for dog boarding than what I’ve seen. Something a little better than just indoor/outdoor runs.

  22. ss says:

Stillwater absolutely needs better grocery stores. Fresh Market, Whole Foods, Earth Fare, a co-op, or something like Kroger or Publix; anything would be an improvement.

    • Ksmith says:

I completely agree! How about a Reasor’s? They are in Tulsa and I really enjoyed shopping there before we moved to Stillwater. I sent them an email lamenting my shopping choices here and they expressed interest but said their market analysis showed that Stillwater did not have the need for another grocery store.

    • KR says:

Absolutely! It is almost impossible to get good produce here. A new grocery store on the west side of town would be fantastic.

  23. Todd Brown says:

I have been here my whole life and the only things that the people of Stillwater consistently support are:

    1. Large chain restaurants
    – local owned restaurants almost always go out of business unless you are Stan Clark, then for some reason people go there no matter how inconsistent and bad the food is. I think they work because he has the money to make them look and feel like large chain restaurants do.

    2. Large chain department stores
    – small stores that sell what wal-mart, lowes, etc. sells are invisible to the people of Stillwater. It isn’t the small store’s fault. People buy what they see on TV and they don’t see local owned businesses on TV. Also, the little guy can’t compete price-wise with big box stores.

    End of list.

If I was going to develop a large portion of land in this town I would research any large chain stores and restaurants that are ok with our population density and court them as much as possible.

I agree with everyone here that would like to see more entertainment, things for kids, etc. but let’s face it…this town wouldn’t support that stuff if you did build it.

Laser Tag – came and went
roller skate – came and went 2 or 3 times in my memory
miniature golf – putt putt came and went, one north of town at a sports complex came and went, swicks has it and white barn has it. Yet people are asking for it on this board…..puzzling.
Sports Complexes – the one north of town had lots of stuff. no one used it. Game On has stuff out there…does anyone go there?
Water Slide – came and went
A million hobby stores have opened and closed over the years.

I am not trying to be a Debbie Downer but let’s face it, the only thing this town gets on board with is new big name restaurants. If you want to lose money then by all means build a really awesome place for kids to hang out at. When I was a teen we used to “hang out” at the Cue on the strip and all Ed did was run us off if were weren’t spending money.

what this town really needs is for it’s population to support the local businesses. But that isn’t what this site is about. It’s about getting ideas for a big new development that will make big bucks for someone. For that, get a big box store and some big name restaurants. From what I hear Target doesn’t like our population density yet….so good luck!

PS – I would love an Olive Garden. :)

    • Amy says:

Most of these things have came and went due to their location. In addition to that there is the cost issue. White Barn had miniature golf but it’s at a price than more people want to play. Swicks has a wonderful idea with their indoor mini golf but it just seems lame to most people after they’ve been there once, even though play is unlimited. Skating was out on the edge of town, so was go carts, so is Game On, so is bowling and so was the batting cages and the previous mini golf place. If there were places to build these things closer to the center of town then I think they would work better. As far as having a nice pool hall or something like that there are plenty of vacant buildings downtown that need something like that. Downtown has done better recently thanks to places like Louie’s Bar and Grill and the Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory. If we add more things to do down town then it might help revive downtown as well as keep people from being so bored.

      • KR says:

I agree on the location issue…the entertainment centers mentioned above were on the north side of town. I live on the southwest side, and to be honest, I often forget about those places because I’m rarely north of Lakeview. Out of sight, out of mind. Perhaps with all the growth on the west side, an entertainment complex there would be more successful.

  24. Jana Phillips says:

Souper Salad or Boston Market – There are so few eateries on the west end of town. This type of place or any of the “nicer” chain restaurants similar to Texas Roadhouse, would be great that close to the car dealerships & Wal-Mart for the out of town shoppers.

  25. Kathy says:

I think that we need a Sam’s Club here. Would help teacherss too

  26. SM says:

Teens definitely need someplace to go and hang out, with billiard tables, a snack bar, TV/DVD, Wii, a small dance floor, a room for working out, an area for just hanging out (lots of comfy chairs and couches), a study area for those needing a place for that, computers with internet access. . . .

  27. eric says:

We need a decent medium sized live music venue in Stillwater to bring in national touring acts. There is an audience for live music in town, but there are no venues that a reasonable booking agent could take seriously when planning tours for bands that appeal to a young adult college aged audience.

  28. Stacy says:

Something for parents of young kids to be able to do. Could be really cool – a small restaurant with blow up toys, or play area or something – like YFZ or KidZone but more about the parents so we can talk and hang out. A huge ChickFilA concept – clean and nice.

    • Tessa says:

I totally agree! There’s a great place in Edmond called Unpluggits – unpluggits.com – and there’s a big, clean play/climbing area, but they also have clay, painting, and other artsy things for kids to do. They have a coffee bar and WiFi for grown-ups.

    • Amanda says:

      Chuck E Cheese?

    • KR says:

ANYPLACE for parents with young kids to go would be a welcome addition! We drive to Cushing for the water park, OKC for the zoo and Omniplex, Tulsa for the aquarium…it would be nice to entertain the kids for a few hours without having to drive to another town.

  29. Wilson says:

all these places that are being recommended would also create more jobs in the area. So keep up the recommendations

  30. Anonymous says:

    Manufacturing, manufacturing, manufacturing.

    Stillwater area needs jobs.

Yes, it would be great to have cool stores but we need jobs first and foremost.

  31. JS says:

A Whole Foods grocery store would be awsome.

  32. carolyn says:

I would like to see an Olive Garden in Stillwater. As someone said we need competition here. Also maybe a Home Depot. Again, for competition.

  33. CB says:

More bicycle lanes and riding trails throughout the city so people and families can ride safely through town … as it is now, the streets are dangerous for young kids to ride and it’s hard to navigate across busier intersections to get to sidewalks … they also need to finally connect the Kameoka trail from 12th street (Couch Park) to the northern section that goes from the high school to Boomer Lake …

  34. TEM says:

Water Park and/or entertainment center for kids, teens and college age.

  35. Anonymous says:

We need a big chain electronics store of some kind. Best Buy, Ultimate Electronics, Frys, etc…

  36. Anonymous says:

    NIGHT TRIPS

  37. Anonymous says:

    NITGHT TRIPS

  38. Lil says:

A fabric store. There is no place to buy fabric in Stillwater.

  39. Brett Farris says:

How about a shopping mall with all these things? A true mall, with everything from a TGI Friday’s to a Crabtown to an event center that could be used to hold concerts. Stillwater needs more “big city” ideas. They can thrive here.

  40. Anonymous says:

As big as Stillwater is…there’s not really any family entertainment places…..or anything for teens for that matter…..something like that would be good!

  41. BDub says:

COMPETITION! This town needs more of everything to create competition! ONE guy owns all the gas stations, so our gas is higher than everywhere else in the state. The only place to buy “stuff” is Wal-Mart – or the other Wal-Mart. No grocery stores… I could go on an on. Stillwater desperately needs COMPETITION!

    • Robby says:

I agree completely. One guy must also own all of the mexican restraunts as well because they all have the same items. The rest pretty much belongs to Stan Clark.

  42. Anonymous says:

    A water park of some kind….or a splash park…..

  43. KM says:

Also, clean up the slums around campus! It is unacceptable to have those kind of living conditions so close to our University. Tear them down and replace them with decent duplexes or apartments. 100 year-old neglected homes that tenants put no maintenance into is not what college students should be living in.

    • Andrea says:

I do have a slight problem with this suggestion, but only because these places provide a lower rent place for students who are already struggling trying to put themselves through school. Have you looked at the prices of some of the new places that are being built around town like the Stillwater Flats? It’s ridiculous. 300 dollars a room doesn’t seem like much to people who actually make a decent wage but for someone who is attending school full time and trying to work forty hours it’s just too much. This town has such a high turn over rate and such a low wage on so many jobs because they can always find more college students to fill their spaces. It’s a sad system and it just makes life more complicated to the kids that are trying to pay for school themselves. Maybe considering a program to help improve the appearance of these “slums” around campus, or maybe just having land lords who don’t say “well, it’s a rent house so let’s just put the cheapest crap in there.” I personally have a wonderful landlord who takes pride in his property and therefore his tenants help to keep them in good condition. Bulldozing older more affordable houses isn’t going to stop places from looking trashy, it’s just going to make this town more unaffordable.

  44. KM says:

Tear down that eyesore of a power plant on campus and relocate it northwest.

  45. Jack McGraw says:

I think Stillwater could use a good park surrounded by a few places to eat or shop. With a large 18-24 demographic that participates in sports or outdoor activities, why not accommodate their active lifestyle? In addition to the park area, there could be spots for restaurants that have a healthier menu (such as Jason’s Deli.. I would love a Jason’s Deli). Just a thought, with many industries worried about projecting a “green” atmosphere, what better way than to use some of this space to put in a nice park. As far as night life, why not put in a stage where concerts and events could be held and even put in a new bowling alley or a gameworks type facility where groups can go out and interact without having to spend all their time on 4th and Washington.

  46. Jared says:

Dave and Busters would kill in Stillwater.

  47. L. Kelly says:

Something for families and teens: indoor rock climbing, skating rink, laser tag (the laser tag that lasted for a few months had leaky ceilings, but was still fun — just needed to be bigger and safer), ice skating, minature golf, etc.

    • BDub says:

I love this idea! ALL the kids need something to DO in this town. Don’t forget about the families – this town is not JUST a college town!

    • Shelia Kennison says:

Yes, mini-golf! My very young grandsons visited last spring and there was nothing to do in town. I also was a faculty advisor for a student organization. The students need a place to socialize. The only place they go now is bowling. A large laser tag place would definitely work for groups.

  48. Shelbi Pollaro says:

What about an Irish brew pub? Old world, fireplaces, couches, live music (not a full band, just a dude or two) A place that’s as cozy as home with some atmosphere that screams wear your flannel pj pants tucked into your boots if you want to. Sit at the bar or sink into the couch by the fire with your feet up on the coffee table sipping a hot cup of coffee or a cold fat brew. Concrete floors, rugs everywhere, mix-matched furniture and strange collectibles that create meaningful real conversations. Limited food menu printed only in chalk on a board behind the bar, waitresses that know what you want when they see you pull up outside. A no hurry, no hassle, laid back, come on in and relax kind of place. A want to be there right now, with a blizzard outside.

  49. Shelbi Pollaro says:

Or how about a sports complex that has indoor rock climbing, repelling, sky diving simulator, stuff like that. Super fun and great exercise for both young and old. Stillwater needs something to do when the Cowboys and Pioneers aren’t playing ball. Great place for teens to go.

  50. Shelbi Pollaro says:

    A Dave & Buster’s would be cool.
